UB Sport & Fitness is an iconic £55M sport centre providing world-class opportunities for everyone in the region from beginners to elite athletes. It’s located on the edge of the University of Birmingham’s Edgbaston campus, just outside the city centre.
UB Sport & Fitness boasts one of the finest multi-purpose sports arenas in the Midlands, if not the country, and surely one of the best on any campus. The 2,200m2 Munrow Sports Arena is made up of three halls, each with full size basketball, netball and volleyball courts, and four badminton courts (twelve in total). The Arena can be used as one hall to host show court matches for Super League Netball or FIBA standard Basketball – it has bleacher seating for 870 spectators and an extensive viewing gallery along two sides of the hall.
Facilities also include an ancillary 2-court hall (The Slater Sports Hall), three other Activity studios for Dojo and martial arts, and six state-of-the-art ASB squash courts with movable side walls. We installed 4,000m2 of Junckers’ sports flooring on this project – CourtCare’s biggest-value flooring project to date, and one with which we are proud to be associated.
